Whereas other builders have saved money by switching to unbranded tubesets from Taiwan, Santana continues to work with Columbus™ of Italy to draw superior tandem specific tubes.

Compared to 11/11/11 plain-gauge or minimally-butted 10/7/10 tubing found on other steel tandems, our custom-drawn 8/5/8 thinwall CroMoly is more efficient, more comfortable, and 20–45% lighter.

When testing frame efficiency of various tandems (measured frameset stiffness divided by actual weight), Santana's least expensive CroMoly models easily outscore the costliest aluminum models from our competition.
